The army post established after the Meeker massacre included primitive, low-slung barracks built with square nails and cottonwood logs. The old officers' quarters now houses the White River Museum. The parade grounds are occupied by the county courthouse ( RB02). Another officers' quarters, 587 Park Street, became the office of the town newspaper, the White River Review, then the public library, and is now a private residence.
