Constructed by a local stonemason of coursed gray rhyolite blocks from the local Myers Stone Quarry, the First Presbyterian Church has a cross-gable roof with parapeted gable ends and a square, open bell tower. Church members, including Swedish immigrant Charles Ydren, carved the interior wood-work and installed cabinetwork imported from Sweden. This church replaced a frame one, from which the 1888 cornerstone was taken. The manse (1906), to the east, is a plain, two-story four-square of yellow brick, with an enclosed sun porch on the second floor over a balustraded porch.
