More than 25 miles of trails and lifts, including a $6 million high-speed quad lift, the Storm Peak Express (1992), criss-cross this winter sports complex, now one of the state's largest single ski areas, with 2,500 skiable acres. Originally developed as Storm Peak, it was renamed for hometown Olympic champion Bud Werner. In 1969 local owners sold out to LTV, a Dallas conglomerate, which considerably enlarged the ski area and developed the nearby “village” of shops and condominiums.
