Yellow Jacket Pass was the pioneer route into the county from the railhead at Wolcott in Eagle County. This one-story cabin of chinked hewn logs with saddle-notched corners has a river rock foundation and chimney. Restored and well maintained, it has a fine interior of polished wooden beams, pine floors, and built-in cabinetry. After the railroad reached Routt County in 1908, this became a private home and later an inn. The Stagecoach Lake Recreation Area (1989), 2 miles south on Routt County 14, was named for this stage stop.
