Heavy stucco-covered piers support groups of three stubby posts at the end of the entrance porch and on the enclosed porch to the side. These seemingly thick concrete-like walls rise upward from the base of the building, forming the posts and balustrades for the porches and their entrance stairs. The ends of the roof ridges have been turned up slightly to suggest that elements of the design came from Japan.
