Instead of the usual version of the Richardsonian Romanesque church, with a central or corner tower, this one has the appearance of a medieval monastic building. Because of the church's elevation above the street, two flights of stairs and their balustrades lead up to the entrance platform. To the right is a large rose window contained within a round arch; to the left is the entrance, which goes into a two-story wing with a central gable roof. Each of the gables has a three-arched pattern of smooth stone voussoirs that contrast with the rougher surface of the adjoining stone walls.
