This house reveals the Queen Anne style as seen through the eyes of a Richardsonian Romanesque architect. The usual complexity of surfaces and details has been replaced by the plainness of masonry walls of brick and sandstone. Compared to his brother's house across the street, Charles Curtis's dwelling bespeaks reserve and confidence. As with the George Curtis house, this dwelling still has its carriage house, also by Josiah L. Rice, c. 1885.
