The designer of this two-story brick commercial building was obviously interested in getting as much as possible into his 20-foot-wide street frontage. On the street level are two entrances, one to the store, the other to the stairs leading to the second floor. Between them is a large glass shop window, separated from the two entrances by slender cast-iron columns. A large-scale metal-roofed bay projects from the second level; above is a pressed metal entablature, cornice, and pedimented finials. Without the date placed in the pediment one would normally have assumed that a design such as this would have been produced in the 1880s or early 1890s.
