The original late Federal-style house has been revamped so that it now reads as a two-story hip-roofed cube with vigorous turn-of-the-century Colonial Revival elements, the strongest of which is the entrance porch. Soft, almost primitive Ionic columns support the wide entablature and cornice of the porch. To emphasize the entrance to the house, the central section of the porch has been pulled forward and extended upward. This section has an entablature with garlands, wreaths, and brackets supporting the cornice. Similar brackets support the main roof cornice. Other Colonial Revival elements are the dormers with gable roofs and the entrance with side lights and transom. All of these wood details contrast with the ashlar block masonry walls of the house.
