Anchoring the northwest corner of the public square, the Gibbs Store is one of the oldest mercantile businesses in Texas under original ownership and located on its original site. The two-story building with a double gallery on thin cast-iron columns and a pediment over the central bay dominates the square. The ornamental plaster treatment over brick continues on all the commercial facades of this block.
