Gustavus A. and Samuella Wynne built their new house in Queen Anne style, but by 1917 they had transformed it into the largest classically styled house in Huntsville. The steep roofs of the original design can be seen rising behind the enveloping, asymmetrical porches: a two-story porch on monumental paired Ionic columns with another behind it that is continued around one side of the house as a single level and the other side as two stories. Wynne was a partner in the Gibbs National Bank and other enterprises. The house was donated to the city in 1998 for use as a cultural center, including an art museum, and community programs.
