Capped by roofline cresting and a Tudoresque chimney, this two-and-one-half-story Queen Anne dwelling of pinkish brown brick has a steep, multigable roof covered in its original copper and zinc. The unusually attractive and well-preserved house harmoniously blends rich details: Eastlake bargeboard and cutouts on the gable ends, a small second-story porch over the entry with turned posts and balustrade echoing those of the larger first-story porch below, and mature landscaping behind a wrought iron spearhead fence. Businessman and banker Thomas B. Townsend manufactured the bricks at his Montrose factory.
